Kohl’s is downsizing their in-store experience for bigger customer turnouts. In 2018, YPulse predicted “historically larger stores will be forced to downsize to appeal to young consumers who don’t want a sprawling maze of choices, but to interact with products in a manageable, fun way.” Now Kohl’s will be reducing their floor space and modernizing its stores overall to appeal to young consumers and provide them more convenient services, new areas for discovery, and an overall more inviting experience. This has already proved true for large retailers like Nordstrom and Ikea, who are drawing inspiration from the popularized Instagrammable pop-ups that attract Gen Z and Millennials. Kohl’s also plans on increasing the amount of stores that feature a Sephora as well as including diverse and female-owned companies. (WWD)
