French nonprofit Entourage created the “first homeless person in the metaverse” to shine a light on social issues happening IRL. As brands spend millions building buzzy campaigns in the metaverse, including buying and selling digital land and homes, Entourage’s campaign points out that France’s homeless population is in need of housing in real life—and encourages French citizens to lend a helping hand. The campaign also promotes Entourage’s social networking app, which helps to connect those with homes and those without them, and bills itself as “the social network that really is social” by helping end the isolation experienced by France’s homeless population.
