Half of Gen Z have purchased something they discovered on TikTok. The power of #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt is real, and a recent study from Student Beans found half of Gen Z have made a purchase after finding it on TikTok, while 80% are using the app in multiple aspects of their life. Two-fifths use the app for outfit inspo, almost half are consuming news stories via TikTok, and #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt is helping them discover new brands. Aside from TikTok, one-third have used augmented reality (AR) to test a product and two-fifths have participated in a livestream shopping event. YPulse’s social media behavior survey shows 70% of Gen Z use TikTok, and 37% browse social media to find things they want to buy. (Internet Retailing)
