Lululemon’s “Like New Program” will now accept used activewear in exchange for an e-gift card. The “Like New Program” launched last year in two states in 394 U.S. stores and online, and starting April 22, Lululemon will accept used activewear in exchange for an e-gift card. Tank tops, t-shirts, short and long sleeve shirts, and shorts can be exchanged for a $5 e-gift card. Hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, pants, crops, leggings, dresses, and bags count for $10. And Lululemon coats and jackets can be exchanged for $25. Gift card value will vary depending on the items and condition of shoppers’ used activewear. All returned items will be cleaned and evaluated for resale via a partnership with recommerce expert Trove. Though consumers won’t be getting a massive return on their investment, the recommerce initiative signals how Lululemon is working to combat clothing waste by giving its products a new life. YPulse’s sustainability research shows 50% of Gen Z and 44% of Millennials say brands should find ways to make their products reusable to help the environment. (CNN)
