Waterless beauty, indoor gardening, and eco-conscious shopping are growing as young consumers adopt sustainable habits. Brightly, a popular eco-friendly shopping destination among Gen Z and Millennials, recently released its Sustainability Trends Report, revealing multiple predictions for how these gens will continue to transform the sustainability space. Among the report’s findings is the mainstream adoption of waterless beauty—a.k.a. shampoo, makeup, and other beauty products that are formulated entirely without water, often coming in the form of a concentrate. Additionally, consumers are craving a touch of the outdoors in their living spaces, fueling indoor gardening with jungles of houseplants, living green walls, and even biophilic furniture. More than ever, shoppers are buying products with their values in mind to purchase with purpose, and adopting “self-sustainability” to take care of themselves while combating climate anxiety. YPulse’s sustainability research shows 74% of Gen Z and Millennials say it’s up to their generations to stop climate change from getting worse, and they’re changing their shopping habits while opting for eco-friendly products as a result.
