Millennials’ kids are watching less linear TV. Millennials led the cord-cutting revolution, and their kids are growing up watching less “traditional” TV than ever. According to MoffettNathanson’s “State of Linear Viewing (2021)” report, time spent viewing kids’ programming on linear television declined 53% from 2019 to 2021. The research also found that the consumption of non-events sports programming went down 23%, syndicated programming went down 22%, and movies went down by 20%. When it comes to cable networks, Cartoon Network saw the hardest hit with a 34% drop, while Nickelodeon saw a 23% decline. Researchers note that streaming services have “driven this shift,” and YPulse’s TV and Entertainment research found that the majority of Millennial parents say their child watches more content on streaming services than cable.
