Sesame Workshop is opening educational play centers in South Korea, with plans to launch in other countries in the future. The nonprofit organization partnered with Seoul-based AVECS Creative Group to create a series of Sesame Street-themed educational play centers (EPCs) within South Korea, which launched in March. The first Sesame Street Learn and Play EPCs opened inside the new Lotte department store in the Dongtan branch of Gyeonggi. The two groups plan on creating and opening five EPCs across the country over the next five years, with an expansion into other countries in the future. Each center will provide interactive experiences for kids of all ages, with the goal of “foster[ing] playful learning to stimulate cognitive, physical, and social engagement.” Some of the featured instructional content includes cooking, science, art, music, dance, and sensory play. All the activities will be designed to provide hands-on learning and include interactions with Sesame Street characters. (Kidscreen)
