U.K.-based luxury shopping platform Threads Styling is jumping on the social commerce bandwagon with new live shopping options. Threads was a pioneer in the digital space when it first began as a chat-based shopping platform, giving customers a personalized luxury shopping experience. Now, the platform will offer live shopping sessions in an effort to further its mission of offering a “unique high-touch customer experience.” The live shopping sessions will take place on the platform’s social media-like app once a week, featuring “clients’ preferred brands,” which include Bottega Veneta, Kamyen, Ananya, and Prada. YPulse’s WE luxury research found that young consumers expect contemporary luxury brands to be more accessible in price, platform, and image. This has led luxury brands to dabble in the metaverse, partner with hip-hop artists, weave sustainability into their core, and launch resale platforms. Meanwhile, social commerce is on the rise, and YPulse’s WE shopping and retail research found that nearly half of young Europeans want to shop via social media. And according to an Accenture study, the global social commerce industry is expected to grow three times as fast as traditional ecommerce to become worth $1.2 trillion by 2025. (The Industry, Yahoo!
