Snapchat’s “Hey, You Good?” campaign is tackling mental health issues in the Black community. YPulse’s recent social media behavior research found that 38% of 13-39-year-old Black consumers use Snapchat. Following the launch of its “Hidden Black Stories” augmented reality project, the social platform is launching another AR campaign that supports the Black community. The “Hey, You Good?” ad campaign—which was started by the Snapchat Creative Council (a joint, multi-year venture between Snapchat and ADCOLOR)—will include filters, lenses, and a Discover channel mini-series that will ask Black youth to check-in on themselves and others. The campaign also includes a microsite with resources for people to find a therapist and a four-part video series about anxiety, toxic masculinity, trauma, and other hot-button topics. Our mental health research found that 38% of 13-39-year-old Black consumers’ mental health has been negatively impacted by the pandemic, and this campaign is certainly a way to reach them during this ongoing difficult time.
