Arden Cho reportedly declined to reprise her role in the “Teen Wolf” revival movie after only being offered half the salary of her White costars—and young fans are calling out the directors because of it.

Arden Cho reportedly declined to reprise her role in the Teen Wolf revival movie after only being offered half the salary of her White costars—and young fans are calling out the directors because of it. In the fall, it was confirmed that the 2011 MTV series Teen Wolf was coming back as a film for Paramount+ and is expected to premiere later this year. Last month, the streaming service unveiled the cast, and while many of the original cast members are returning, there were some notable faces missing, including Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, and Arden Cho, who portrayed thunder kitsune Kira Yukimura. Many fans were saddened to see that Cho wasn’t returning, and the actress revealed that she declined the role due to only being offered “half the per-episode salary proposed to her three counterparts.” Cho is the only actress of color among the four female series regular cast members. O’Brien also confirmed Cho’s claims after he allegedly liked tweets where she spoke out about the news. Fans quickly took to social media to call out the directors and pointed out the pay disparities in the entertainment industry when it comes to gender and race. YPulse’s Representation in Action trend research found that nearly half of 13-39-year-old Asian consumers feel underrepresented or discriminated against because of their race / ethnicity, while a quarter say they feel underrepresented or discriminated against because of their gender.
