Kind is asking consumers to stop eating its snack bars to promote eating whole foods. To raise awareness for its new Whole Fruit and Nut Box, Kind will stop selling its prepackaged snacks via its website from March 1-2. A Kind Bar-filled vending machine will also go up in NYC’s Greenwich Village to promote the new product, and for every Kind Bar that’s purchased, the vending machine will swing open to reveal a hidden farmer’s market where consumers can pick up whole foods—free of charge. The campaign stems from data from the Centers for Disease Control that found nine out of 10 American adults and children don’t eat enough fruits and veggies—and are more likely to eat prepackaged foods. The activation also coincides with National Nutrition Month in March. YPulse’s food shopping research shows Millennials are shopping snack aisles more than produce and organic / natural foods sections, which is something the pandemic has had a considerable impact on as consumers look to comfort food to ease stress.
