A U.K. parliamentary committee is calling for companies to report their racial pay gap.

Feb 16 2022

A U.K. parliamentary committee is calling for companies to report their racial pay gap. After a recent report found that ethnic minority workers are paid four to 10% less than White British workers for similar jobs, the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee is pushing the government to introduce legislation that would require large companies to publish their ethnicity pay gap data. The committee believes that this would represent a major step towards addressing racial pay disparities and making U.K. workplaces equal opportunity. In YPulse’s WE What’s Next for Work trend research, we explore how the pandemic has provoked young workers to re-examine not only their jobs but their entire relationship to work. Our data shows that 40% of employed young Europeans plan to leave their current job in the next year, while 20% of Millennials have quit their jobs in the past year, with many doing so to search for more meaningful work—and to find higher-paying (and fair) opportunities.
