LuciferSquid Game, and CoComelon were the most popular TV shows of 2021 among Black, Asian, and Hispanic viewers. YPulse’s TV and entertainment research found that the majority of 13-39-year-old BIPOC consumers watch TV shows on streaming services. We also told you that Netflix’s Squid Game and Lucifer are two of young people’s favorite currently airing TV shows, and according to Nielsen Analytics, those were two of the most popular titles on streaming services last year for Black, Asian, and Hispanic viewers. The research found that in Asian households, Squid Game garnered 45% viewing, and generated one-third of its viewing minutes in Hispanic households. Twenty-nine percent of 18-34-year-olds watched the series with English subtitles. CoComelon was another popular TV show, driving 33.3 billion minutes of screen time across the wide array of SVOD platforms—with 56% of its audience coming from Black, Hispanic, or Asian homes.
