A recent study found that Gen Z females are more attracted to people who are masked up. The small British study asked 43 women to rate the attractiveness of men without a mask, wearing a cloth mask, a medical mask, and covering the area a face mask would hide with a plain black book. The women—and particularly the Gen Z participants—reported that the men wearing cloth masks were more attractive than those without masks, or whose faces were obscured by the book. But the ones they found most attractive were the men wearing disposable surgical masks. In YPulse’s The In-Between trend research (WE version forthcoming), we explored the COVID-19-created limbo Gen Z and Millennials’ are living in, finding that many have adjusted to their new normal and are getting on with their lives within the pandemic. While in the past a surgical mask may have been a liability, in the new normal, it may be read as a sign of a potential partner’s values and health-consciousness. (The Guardian)
