Target and Revolt TV are developing a series to empower Black entrepreneurs. YPulse’s Life Plans, Rewritten trend research found that 70% of 13-39-year-old Black consumers aspire to be an entrepreneur. Target is working with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ multimedia platform Revolt TV to co-create Bet on Black, a show that will invite Black business owners to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges who will determine whether their venture deserves funding. The businesses will include a mix of categories from beauty to technology, and the judges include rapper T-Pain, stylist Zerina Akers, entertainer DJ Envy, and Target’s senior divisional merchandising intimates, apparel, and accessories, Melanie Gatewood-Hall. The four-part series will air this month and will feature three entrepreneurs in each episode. Throughout the show, Target will give away $500,000, with the winner receiving $200,000 and all 12 contestants receiving at least $5,000 in funding. The four finalists will also have the opportunity to meet with Target executives for advice and mentorship. (AdAge)
