Ready Player Me is an avatar system betting on bringing more virtual avatars and NFT cosmetics to the metaverse.

Jan 03 2022

Ready Player Me is an avatar system betting on bringing more virtual avatars and NFT cosmetics to the metaverse. Recently earning $13 million in a Series A funding round, Ready Player Me’s goal is to enable users to wear the same avatar in multiple virtual worlds—and make it easier for companies developing virtual worlds to allow users to maintain consistent virtual identities. Ready Player Me says it’s used by more than 900 companies, including VRChat, Somnium Space, Verizon, and Hiberworld, and according to the co-founder and CEO, “[Ready Player Me] wants to unify the outer layers of virtual worlds to make for a smoother user experience.” The avatar system has started working with fashion and beauty brands like Dior and New Balance as it deepens its focus on virtual fashion, selling digital clothing, and cosmetics as NFTs, with the idea that users will be able to buy an NFT IRL that will grant them access to a cosmetic or fashion piece for their avatar to wear in the virtual world. YPulse told you that NFTs and virtual, metaverse-like spaces took off as a marketing trend in 2021, and Ready Player Me is another company betting on the future of virtual spaces.
