Serena Williams is writing a children’s book about her daughter’s favorite doll, which is “dedicated to all little girls.”

Dec 30 2021

Serena Williams is writing a children’s book about her daughter’s favorite doll, which is “dedicated to all little girls.” YPulse’s Representation in Action trend report found that more than half of Millennial parents have purchased a toy for their child to teach them about diversity. Williams, one of young people’s favorite athletes, is releasing her first children’s book with entertainment technology company Invisible Universe. The Adventures of Qai Qai will be illustrated by Yesenia Moises and published by Feiwel and Friends in September 2022. The tennis star said the book is inspired by the doll she and her husband Alexis Ohanian gave to their daughter, Olympia. Since 2018, the couple has shared the “fun antics” between Olympia and Qai Qai, by giving the doll her own Instagram account, which has garnered thousands of followers, and has become a beloved doll for many kids. According to Ohanion, who previously collaborated with Adobe and Invisible Universe to create a free coloring book for International Daughters Day, he and Williams are excited to see all the places that [Qai Qai] goes and hope that “it can inspire kids—boys, girls, Black, [W]hite—all over the world to just have fun and dream.” (PEOPLE)
