KFC is spicing up its annual tradition of selling a scented firelog by adding a themed getaway experience. For nearly three years now, KFC has celebrated the holiday season by selling a scented firelog inspired by its 11 herbs and spices recipe. The scented product is making a comeback in a partnership with Enviro-Log, available exclusively at Walmart. To spice up the promotion, KFC created a 7,000 square-foot getaway, the Kentucky Fried Chicken Firelog Cabin (located in Kentucky, of course), featuring four bedrooms, a theater, built-in bar, and a pool and hot tub all themed around the fried-chicken cabin. A QR Code is packaged with the scented log that consumers can scan to enter a chance to win a three-day, two-night stay at the KFC cabin, and fans can also enter the contest via the brand’s U.S. ordering app. Creating themed rental experiences is one way brands have been getting creative with experiential marketing in the COVID-era, and YPulse’s on-demand PULSE survey research found that more than half of 16-34-year-olds are interested in staying at a themed-Airbnb / vacation rental.
