Disney partnered with Alamar Cosmetics for its first Latinx-owned brand collaboration.

Nov 23 2021

Disney partnered with Alamar Cosmetics for its first Latinx-owned brand collaboration. We’ve told you the many ways non-beauty brands have tapped makeup for marketing, and to coincide with the launch of their latest animated film Encanto, which centers on a magical village of the same name in the mountains of Colombia, Disney reached out to Alamar Cosmetics’ CEO and founder Gabriela Trujillo for a makeup collaboration—marking their first time working with a Latinx-owned brand. The 13-piece collection consists of an eyeshadow palette, a highlighter, two blushes, a trio of eyeshadow brushes, a duo of complexion brushes, lip liners, lip glosses, liquid eyeliners, and a “magic mirror.” To develop the makeup, Trujillo and her team took inspiration directly from the movie. According to Walt Disney Studios’ VP of global marketing partnerships and multicultural marketing, Jan Coleman: “Our heroine is a beautiful young Latin woman named Mirabel who is on a journey to find her worth and value in her family and in life. I knew this movie would be the perfect vehicle to magnify Latinx brands such as Alamar Cosmetics. This movie also shows how our gifts and talents can help our community. We need community more than ever and supporting Latinx brands that are part of our community is powerful.” (Glossy)
