Secondhand goods are gaining ground among young holiday shoppers. YPulse’s holiday shopping plans research shows that 59% of 13-39-year-olds are worried COVID-19 shipping delays will make it hard to shop for the presents they want to give. In an effort to prioritize sustainable shopping and avoid shipping issues / product shortages, more young shoppers are relying on secondhand shopping this holiday season. According to a ThredUp survey, more than half of respondents believe buying secondhand gifts is more socially acceptable than five years ago, and 56% of consumers are turning to used items to save money. Additionally, 54% of consumers are turning to used items to shop more sustainably and 34% are doing so to find unique items. (Retail Dive)
