Yes, Gen Z does use LinkedIn, and they’re using the platform to develop new skills. YPulse’s Self-Taught trend research shows that 39% of Gen Z and 36% of Millennials turn to social media platforms when they want to learn something new, and online courses are one of the top resources they tap to do so. As Gen Z continues pursuing higher education and entering the workforce, some of them are joining LinkedIn to craft new skills—and show them off. According to LinkedIn data, Gen Z is the fastest growing demographic on the platform (Gen Z makes up approximately 10% of LinkedIn’s global member base), and they’re using the platform for networking, research, and learning new skills. Nearly 75% of Gen Z LinkedIn users say they want to learn new skills, and courses on Microsoft Excel, project management, data structuring and data visualization softwares, coding language basics, and SEO are some of the most popular LinkedIn courses young people have taken.
