Netflix, Gold House, and Tribeca Studios are launching a new fellowship to elevate AAPI filmmakers. We’ve told you about the programs supporting BIPOC talent, and YPulse’s employment research found that 47% of 13-39-year-old Asian consumers want a job in the arts. Following Netflix and Gold House’s new partnership, the two are working with Tribeca Studios on the Future Gold Film Fellowship program designed to elevate experienced AAPI directors. Three recipients will be selected for the program by Tribeca Studios and a panel of industry leaders—including actor Danie Dae Kim, Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu, and Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton—and will receive a grant to complete production on a scripted short film as well as full production support, training, mentorship, and networking from the three groups.
