Nostalgic toys and accessories are hitting the market just in time for the holidays. Lego has a true knack for creating sets inspired by fans, the latest of which is a 3,995-piece set based on Kevin McCallister’s house from Home Alone—the largest Lego Ideas set yet. The Lego home is tricked out with movie references (a scary basement furnace even exists) along with Kevin’s booby traps, of course, and the structure opens out into a dollhouse-like setup. Meanwhile, American Girl is teaming up with Stoney Clover Lane on an accessories line designed around six OG American Girl dolls, including Felicity Merriman, Kirsten Larson, Samantha Parkington, Addy Walker, Josefina Montoya, and Molly McIntire. The line includes bags and pouches designed using the pattern from each doll’s original “Meet” dress, and each piece can be customized with patches and embellishments. YPulse’s Playtime trend research shows how toy brands are reaching Millennials by recreating toys from their past, and Lego’s and American Girl’s new toys are going straight for their nostalgic hearts.
