Meanwhile, Puff Bar has reportedly surpassed Juul as young people’s favorite e-cigarette. YPulse’s health, drugs, and risky behavior research shows that 15% of Gen Z and 26% of Millennials have experimented with e-cigarettes in 2021, and vaping is seen as a less risky alternative to smoking cigarettes—85% of young consumers think cigarettes are harmful to a person’s health compared to 73% who think e-cigarettes/vaping is harmful. While Juul has remained popular among young e-cigarette users, Puff Bar (a disposable brand) is reportedly used by 26% of high school vapers, followed by Vuse (11%), Smok (10%), and Juul (6%). Puff Bar is even more popular among middle school e-cigarette users, with 30% saying it’s their usual brand of choice. Puff Bar’s sales surged last year when federal restrictions barred sales of flavored e-cigarette refill pods like Juul’s, making the brand the new go-to for youngsters. After temporarily stopping website sales last year due to FDA regulations, Puff Bar says it has changed its ingredients and now uses nicotine that isn’t derived from tobacco. (WSJ)
