Young Canadian workers are feeling “overworked” and “underpaid.”

Oct 05 2021

Young Canadian workers are feeling “overworked” and “underpaid.” According to Robert Half’s 2022 Canada Salary Guide, 56% of Millennials think they’re earning less than they deserve, and 35% of Gen Z and 28% of Millennials say they would attempt a career move if they don’t get a salary increase. Workers who are thinking about switching jobs are looking at higher compensation along with more monetary benefits included in their package. David King, Canadian Senior District President of Robert Half notes “regularly benchmarking salaries and identifying factors that enhance job satisfaction such as opportunities for advancement, flexible schedules, and programs that support employee well-being” are things employers can do to retain / recruit talent. YPulse’s employment and career goals research found that 47% of employed Millennials in the U.S. plan to get a new job within the next year (up 5pts from 2019), and financial benefits like performance bonuses and retirement benefits are factors that would influence Millennials who are employed or looking for work to take a job.
