U.K. beauty brand Dcypher is using AI technology to create perfect-match foundations. Customization is the name of the game in the beauty industry right now as young consumers seek out products that are as unique as they are. In fact, recent YPulse data found that product customization is the top beauty trend young Europeans are interested in trying. Part of this is due to the ongoing push for diversity in the beauty industry: a recent survey sponsored by beauty brand No7 found that 56% of non-White people in the U.K. feel underrepresented by the skincare industry, and a lack of sufficient foundation color options is one way this manifests. Targeting this issue, Dcypher’s technology scans customers’ selfies to decipher their exact skin tone (pun intended), creating a bespoke foundation for everyone. (Stylist)
