DISH Network and FinanceBuzz are each offering scary movie fans $1,300 to watch horror flicks. In anticipation of this year’s Halloween season, DISH Network is offering select fans $1,300 to watch 13 Stephen King adaptations including The Shining, It, and Misery. Viewers will be equipped with a Fitbit to track their heart rate along with a “survival kit” including a blanket, popcorn, candy, and Stephen King paraphernalia. FinanceBuzz is offering a similar deal by hiring a “Horror Heart Rate Analyst” in an attempt to test whether there’s a correlation between a horror movie’s budget and it’s scare factor. The selected analyst will watch a variety of high- and low-budget films like The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, A Quiet Place, and Get Out. YPulse’s Halloween research shows that 39% of 13-39-year-olds say they plan to celebrate the holiday by watching scary/horror movies, and DISH Network’s and FinanceBuzz’s gigs play right into young consumers’ gear up for spooky season.
