Pepsi is releasing a new docuseries featuring Black cuisine. As an expansion of their “Dig In” initiative to support Black-owned restaurants during the pandemic, the company’s new series, “You Have to Taste This,” will highlight the stories of Black chefs and the diaspora of Black cuisine in the U.S. through four “snackable” episodes. It will feature celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson interviewing chefs at Black-owned restaurants in the South about their cultural backgrounds, culinary trajectories, and signature dishes. The mini-episodes will be released every week across social media accounts dedicated to “Dig In” and Samuelsson’s YouTube channel. YPulse’s food shopping and trends behavioral report found that 66% of 13-39-year-old BIPOC consumers consider themselves a “foodie” and launching a new digital show highlighting diverse cuisines could be a way to reach this demographic.
