Employees’ mental health will play a major role in the future of the workplace. According to a study from human resources consulting firm Robert Half, workplace burnout is rising, with 44% of workers saying they feel fatigued on the job—up from 34% in 2020. A survey from The Hartford also found that 31% of U.S. employers say workforce mental health is having a severe or significant financial impact on the company, which is up 11% from March 2020. While some workplaces have been evolving their environment to create flexible working conditions, open communication regarding employees’ mental well-being and solutions for helping combat burnout are even more important. YPulse’s State of Mind trend research shows that 47% of Millennial employees believe employers should offer mental health days in addition to sick days, and providing resources for mental health services are also vital according to experts.
