Europe’s top clothing rental platform, Hurr, is teaming up with Depop to give retired pieces (another) second life. Called ‘The Loop,’ Hurr’s Depop shop features some of its most popular rented styles at a massive discount and with the added bonus of bringing even more sustainability to shoppers’ closets. All of the items have already been rented and worn at least 20 times. By selling through Depop, the lifespan of each piece is increased even more. YPulse’s research shows that in the U.S., young consumers’ fears about climate change are impacting their purchases, leading them to lean hard into secondhand shopping. In fact, secondhand clothing is now a $40 billion a year industry and is expected to grow 15-20% in the next five years. Depop has grown especially popular in the midst of this used boom, leading brands to join forces with the app to market and sell limited-edition and one of a kind products. (Harper’s Bazaar)
