With LVMH’s acquisition of Off-White, Virgil Abloh is expected to launch new brands to “foster inclusion.”

Aug 03 2021

With LVMH’s acquisition of Off-White, Virgil Abloh is expected to launch new brands to “foster inclusion.” LVMH just announced that they are purchasing a 60% stake in Abloh’s brand Off-White. The fashion designer, who will retain a 40% stake in the company, will continue to serve as its creative director as well as the artist director for Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection. As one of the most prominent Black executives in the luxury fashion industry, Abloh, who has previously collaborated with hip-hop stars like Kanye West and Kid Cudi, wants to use his partnership to deepen a “longstanding commitment to expand opportunities for diverse individuals and foster greater equity and inclusion in the industries [they] serve.” Both parties are currently working together to “launch new brands,” and partner with existing ones in sectors outside of fashion. Recently, LVMH also bought stakes in Jay Z’s Champagne Armand de Brignac as well as invested in Rihanna’s size-inclusive Savage X Fenty to “capture a more diverse set of customers.” (Sourcing Journal)
