Afro-Latina actress Leslie Grace has been cast as the new Batgirl.

Aug 03 2021

Afro-Latina actress Leslie Grace has been cast as the new Batgirl. We recently told you about the iconic characters that young fans want to see re-cast as BIPOC actors, and Warner Bros. and DC just announced that they are casting Leslie Grace, one of the breakout stars of In The Heights, in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl film. While many characters have donned the famous cape and cowl, Grace will portray Barbara Gordon, who is “the most famous version of Batgirl.” Along with Grace, the DC Universe has cast two other Latina actresses in key film roles this year including Sasha Calle as Supergirl in The Flash and Rachel Zegler in the Shazam! Fury of the Gods sequel. Meanwhile, DC just announced that actor Michael B. Jordan and his production company Outlier Society are developing a limited series for HBO Max based on “the Val-Zod incarnation,” which features a Black Superman. (THRCollider)
