Netflix is teaming up with Gold House to promote API content. As a way to ramp up its outreach to Asian and Pacific Islander audiences, the streaming service is working with the nonprofit Gold House to form Netflix Gold, an ongoing partnership that will promote all of its API content, including movies, TV shows, documentaries, and stand-up specials. This marks the first time the nonprofit has inked a long-term relationship with a producer or distributor. To kick off the collaboration, they hosted an exclusive, in-person event in Los Angeles to celebrate the second season of Mindy Kaling’s hit series Never Have I Ever by featuring food and swag from local South Asian restaurants and businesses. Upcoming series expected to get the “Netflix Gold treatment” include Sandra Oh-led The Chair and Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo. Since the start of the #StopAsianHate movement, more brands have been finding ways to support the AAPI community. (THR)
