BIPOC creators are seeing commitment from brands, but they still “face inequalities.” Following last year’s protests, there has been a spike in interest from brands partnering with BIPOC creators as they look “to better reach and more authentically connect with diverse audiences.” Doritos, Logitech, and Procter & Gamble are just some of the brands who have been making an effort to support diverse creators. However, some influential BIPOC creators have spoken out recently about how they still face inequalities compared to their White counterparts. Twitch streamer Confetti publicly noted how many marketing efforts are still confined to Black History Month and other related “holidays,” while Black dancers on TikTok went on strike earlier this month to make a statement on not receiving credit for their choreography.
