ThredUp is teaming up with “Gossip Girl”’s costume designer for “thrifted shopping kits” inspired by the show’s fashion. As if the “Gossip Girl” reboot wasn’t already screaming Gen Z, young fans will now be able to thrift their favorite looks from the show on ThredUp. The curated boxes (a.k.a. “thrifted shopping kits”) will contain 10 pieces that “emulate the fashion identities defining “Gossip Girl”’s main settings and characters,” and shoppers will only be charged for the items they keep, plus an additional $10 styling fee. While OG “Gossip Girl” fans (hi Millennials) may have shopped for their favorite looks directly from designers, sustainability is the new name of the game. With shopping for secondhand clothing on resale platforms like Depop, Poshmark, and ThredUp growing among young consumers, this “Gossip Girl”-inspired move is yet another way the reboot is being made over next generation.
