Parents plan to spend more during this year’s back-to-school shopping season.

Jul 15 2021

Parents plan to spend more during this year’s back-to-school shopping season. Understandably, last year Millennial parents experienced a lot of uncertainty surrounding back-to-school-shopping in the midst of the pandemic. But according to Deloitte’s recent Back-to-School survey, parents are starting to feel more optimistic this year, with 40% saying they expect to spend more on BTS items compared to 2020. Sales for electronics are growing due to more time spent learning at-home, and 37% of survey respondents say they anticipate buying electronic gadgets this year—compared to 24% in 2020. As the retail industry and economy see a boost in shopping, overall back-to-school spending is expected to rise by 16% year-over-year to reach $32.5 billion for K-12 students. (Retail Dive)
