Employers are entering a new (and healthier) era of work culture as they support workers’ transition back to the office. YPulse’s employment and career goals data shows that attitudes around working at-home versus in-person are split, with 40% of Millennials saying they are looking forward to going back to the workplace and 31% saying they would like to work from home post-pandemic. As the return to the office continues, employees say they want safer workplaces, a phased reentry, financial and mental health support, and clear communication from leadership. Many employers are listening and have embraced a number of practices to ease the transition to working in-person again: real estate tech company HqO is leasing additional space to limit the spread of infections by distancing work stations, medical scheduling platform Zocdoc is rolling out a phased reentry to promote flexibility as workers return to their offices, and Etsy is supporting employees’ mental health with an employee resource group aimed at vocalizing their experiences and needs. The future of work is a major opportunity for employers to adapt for the better, and according to Salesforce, “the 9-to-5 workday is dead.” (Fast Company, CNBC)
