Tinder is getting a Gen Z refresh. Several apps including Lolly, Snack, 2up, Blink, and more have been giving the right-left swipe structure of dating apps an upgrade with TikTok-esque and gaming-inspired platforms. Now, Tinder is getting a similar upgrade with a slew of Snapchat- and TikTok-like features heading to the app later this summer: users will be able to add videos to their profiles for a “multi-dimensional experience,” a new choose-your-own-adventure game called Hot Takes lets users ask someone before they match what their hot takes are (the first feature that allows users to chat before matching), and a new explore page where members can see potential matches who share similar interests are among the new tools. YPulse’s Finding Love Post-COVID trend data shows that 74% of Gen Z say technology has made dating easier, and Tinder’s upgrades show that platforms are making changes for the next generation.
