Parents of young children say their kids have “developed a deeper understanding” of racism in the last year. Sesame Workshop’s survey of 150 kids 9-11-years-old and their parents found the majority of children believe that people of different races are treated differently, while 42% of kids and 62% of Black kids have personally experienced discrimination. While the majority of parents said they’re comfortable being the primary source of information about race and racism for their children, books, school, and media followed closely behind. YPulse’s Representation in Action trend research found that over half of Millennial parents have had their child watch a TV show/movie because it featured a diverse cast. (Kidscreen)
