Millennial families are eating up these faux-meat chicken nuggets. Millennials have been fuelling the popularity of plant-based meat, and 36% of Millennial parents tell YPulse they eat it regularly. Startup Simulate says Millennial families and Gen Z kids are the biggest customer base for Nuggs, their chicken nugget “alternative.” The brand has been raising funding—Jay-Z is now backing the $250 million startup—and expanding into major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods. According to 21-year-old co-founder Ben Basternak, “Most young Americans’ first taste of meat is a chicken nugget or tender and we thought Nuggs would be a good entry point as we believe all cultural change starts with younger people.” (Bloomberg, VegNews)
