Young shoppers are creating boom sales for retailers like American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, and Abercrombie & Fitch. The brands are crediting young consumers, who have pent-up shopping demand, and want new outfits as they “get out of the house and socialize again.” Urban Outfitters also reports that they’re “benefiting from shoppers who are ‘flush with cash’” after months of curbing spending on experiences. While going out outfits are more desired than they have been in some time, several retailers also note that that demand for workout clothes, athleisure, and “cozy, stay-at-home wear” has not slowed down, contributing to sales. In the end, while young shoppers are gearing up to spend more time out of the house, some of the trends of the pandemic won’t be going away quickly. (CNBC)
