YouTube is (finally) hosting their own beauty festival with celebrity-owned beauty brands and influencers. For years, YPulse has tracked the success of Beautycon, a powerhouse beauty event bringing together a community of influencers and content creators. Now, YouTube is launching their own beauty experience with their first (virtual) YouTube Beauty Festival this month. YouTube’s head of fashion and beauty, Derek Blasberg, will host the virtual event featuring segments from Michelle Phan (YouTube’s first beauty creator), Pharell Williams, Emma Chamberlain, Bob the Drag Queen, Monét X Change, Chanel Tyler, and Grace Guan. Beautycon’s CEO, Moj Mahdara, told YPulse, “Beautycon Festivals are appealing because we create engaging experiences for the fans. Young consumers want to be able to see, touch, and interact with their favorite products and people,” and while the first YouTube Beauty Festival will be virtual, it’s still likely to appeal to young beauty consumers and content creators who use the platform.
