Livestream shopping could be the future of ecommerce with more brands embracing the digitized retail experience. YPulse called out livestream shopping as one of the ways online shopping is becoming more of an experience for young shoppers. The livestream shopping trend has had huge success in China—with some events happening everyday—and is starting to pick up in the U.S. as a result of decreased in-person shopping during the pandemic. Avon—which usually holds an in-person shopping event for their representatives—tested the livestream shopping event featuring DJs, prizes, and giveaways. During their second livestream event, Avon’s sales reportedly increased 76% as a result of the interactive shopping experience. The brand notes they “feel very confident that [livestream shopping] is the future of retail,” and will continue to carry on the virtual event with plans for influencer hosts and new improvements already in the works. YPulse’s most recent shopping and retail survey found 51% of Gen Z and Millennials are interested in livestream shopping even after the threat of COVID has passed, and their craving for personalized, interactive online shopping experiences isn’t going away.
