College students are finding valuable job experience through brand ambassador programs.TikTok, Bumble, and Red Bull are just a few of many brands currently tapping college students for brand ambassador programs—and the Millennials working for them say they love the experience. Depending on the brand, the college ambassadors are in charge of posting on social media, distributing merchandise, and building communities of young consumers on their campuses. College students are serving as micro-influencers through the program, and brands are benefiting because of it. YPulse’s Influencers and Celebrities report found that young consumers want authentic representatives of their own experiences, with 64% saying an influencer’s number of followers on social media doesn’t matter to them. While college students typically find part-time work in the food or retail industries, today’s college-aged Millennials and Gen Zs are developing career-ready skills in marketing and project management through valuable brand ambassador programs.
