Post-pandemic shopping has sprung, with champagne, dresses, and shaving kits on the list of products seeing sales bumps.

Apr 21 2021

Post-pandemic shopping has sprung, with champagne, dresses, and shaving kits on the list of products seeing sales bumps. According to the Commerce Department, retail sales rose more than nine percent in March, with stimulus checks and increased vaccinations prompting new spending. Skirts, shoes, swimsuits—even champagne—are popular items shoppers are grabbing as they’re planning for the months ahead and starting to celebrate. Macy’s reports that dress sales have “picked up” as “young women…are now able to put a prom date on the calendar.” And of course, Gen Z is swapping their skinny jeans for loose-fitting “mom jeans” (sorry, Millennials) and Levi’s reports they’re driving a denim boom. Finally, champagne sales have “soared” 103% in the U.S., as reunions with friends and family and vaccine toasts have people popping bottles. (CNBC)
