| COVID-induced anxiety and depression is already showing early signs of the long-term “emotional toll” on kids and young adults. According to Harvard University, two-thirds of children aged 7-15-years-old had “clinically significant symptoms” of anxiety and depression, while the same number had behavioral problems like hyperactivity and inattention—a huge jump from the 30% with anxiety and depression symptoms and 20% with behavioral problems pre-pandemic. The symptoms were more common and apparent in kids who had a family member that was either hospitalized or died from COVID, or who has a parent that lost a job. YPulse’s State of Mind trend report found that 54% of 13-39-year-olds say their mental health has been negatively impacted by COVID, while 40% are worried about their loved ones getting the virus.
