Are we on the brink of a “post-COVID beauty boom”? In the last year, people “chose to forgo beauty appointments in favor of a DIY approach at home” especially as salons were temporarily shut down for the first few months of quarantine. But as COVID vaccines roll out, consumers are starting to book hair, manicure, and botox appointments to get back into their old routines. According to GlossGenius data, bookings nationwide are up more than 20% since the beginning of the year. Not only are people booking more appointments overall in 2021, but they are booking more services at once, and much of that growth “is from those who are trying things they’ve never scheduled before.” YPulse’s beauty and personal care report found that 54% of 13-39-year-olds agree: “I can’t wait till stay-at-home orders are lifted and I can put more effort again into my personal appearance.”(WSJ, The Atlantic)
