TikTok is getting Universal Music Group’s full music catalog—right after Triller lost it. The video app wars are continuing to heat up, and TikTok seemingly has the upper hand after officially landing the entirety of Universal Music Group’s catalog and artists. Both companies announced the formation of “an expanded global alliance,” which is a “continuation and deepening” of their agreement which allows users to use songs from the group’s artists. This move comes after UMG pulled their catalog from TikTok rival Triller for allegedly “shamefully withholding payments” from their artists. (The Verge, Music Business Worldwide)
