TikTok’s Ratatouille musical was turned into a fundraiser and sold $1 million in tickets.

TikTok’s Ratatouille musical was turned into a fundraiser and sold $1 million in tickets. In November, a few TikTok users went viral for creating a musical (via short videos) inspired by Disney’s Ratatouille—and over the holidays, it got turned into a real production to benefit The Actors Fund. Seaview Productions teamed up with the social app to produce Ratatousical, which was given its “blessing” by Disney Pixar, and sold more than $1 million in tickets ahead of the New Year’s Day virtual performance. The show starred Broadway actors Wayne Brady, Andrew Barth Feldman, Ashley Park, Kevin Chamberlin, Andre de Shields, Adam Lambert, and Tituss Burgess along with a 20-piece Broadway Sinfonietta orchestra. This move signals “a new way forward” for musical theater, “without gatekeepers preventing new talent from having their chance to shine.” (The Verge)
