Twitter’s new disappearing messages have launched to directly compete with Snapchat and Instagram. “Fleets” finally made their debut on Twitter this week, allowing users to post full screen photos, videos, reactions, or plain text that vanishes after 24 hours—following the ephemeral trend other platforms have had in place for some time. Meanwhile, the social network also unveiled Spaces, which lets users join virtual rooms to engage in real-time, audio conversations with others, similar to Clubhouse. According to an executive at Twitter, the new Spaces function will allow users to “have more thoughtful debate and exchanges.” (CNBC, The Verge)
